Woman Crush Wednesday: ‘The Umbrella Academy’ Star Emmy Raver-Lampman Is The Heroine You’ve Been Waiting For

Reviews

Woman Crush Wednesday is here again and we’re pretty pumped about this one. This week we’re celebrating one of our favorite TV newcomers (and superheroes), Emmy Raver-Lampman!

WHO’S THAT GAL: Emmy Raver-Lampman

WHY WE’RE CRUSHING: Sure, every week we gush about these amazing ladies but this one you just have to see to believe. Raver-Lampman is a true goddess onscreen and off. She’s most recognizable from her portrayal of Allison in The Umbrella Academy, and boy is it a damn good performance. It’s like the second she pops up on your computer screen you just begin to wonder, where has this perfect human been all my life? And you’re in luck because you’ve got 10 total episodes with this star in the making.

Her career actually began on Broadway, where she shined like the triple-threat we know she is. While the transition from stage to screen isn’t always easy, our girl makes it seem effortless. And appearing alongside Hollywood legends like Mary J. Blige and Ellen Page, Raver-Lampman totally steals the show. Like, how are we just discovering her now and when is her next series hitting Netflix? It’s super clear that Raver-Lampman isn’t just your typical TV star and we’re totally into it. Whether it be on screen fighting the apocalypse or belting it out onstage, this girl is fierce AF and doing what she was born to do. Here’s to another season of this incredible human kicking butt in The Umbrella Academy!

WHERE YOU’VE SEEN HER BEFORE: During Raver-Lampman’s career on Broadway, she was a member of the ensemble in a little musical called Hamilton. Maybe you’ve heard of it? She also had roles in Jekyll & Hyde, Hair, and the Spongebob Squarepants musical. After making her transition to TV, Raver-Lampman appeared in a guest role on ABC’s A Million Little Thingsbut you’ll best recognize her from her role in The Umbrella Academy. In the Netflix original series, Raver-Lampman stars as Allison Hargreeves, the It-girl who can manipulate reality by using the phrase “I heard a rumor…”

WHERE YOU’LL SEE HER AGAIN: Good news because Raver-Lampman is appearing in a project called Wednesdays, alongside Seth Green. Currently, there is no set release date for the project, but we’re hoping it’s sometime soon.
